Baby Blues

"We are often called upon to be as creative as we can be to capture the idea or concept that a client has in mind when it comes to reinventing their space. On the other hand there are times where we are just advised of a color and the rest is up to us. This master bath remodel was the latter of these two scenarios. We were just advised that we needed to integrate white tile and some blue tile. Challenge accepted!!! The space starts much like any other; outdated cabinetry, colors that disappeared with the 1980's, poor lighting and a poor sense of good use of space. Coupled with that the typical budgetary constraints of every project. So, out with the old and in with the new. Rather than go with the standby subway tile for the shower walls, we incorporated tiles that are 4"" x 16"" to give the shower the feeling of being larger than it really is. To meet the clients request of introducing the color blue, we used some glass mosaic that had an old world look to it with a variety of hues. To further the integration of the color blue as well as meet the budget for this project we decided to salvage the existing cabinetry, painted them and gave them a distressed look to start pulling that old world theme together that reminds one of the Grecian coast line with the crisp Mediterranean blues and crisp whites. The aging needs of these clients in their early 80's required some added security measures such as grab bars that we acquired in matching finishes to help pull the suite together for a well thought out project that met the functional needs as well as the aesthetic appeal. The pictures tell the story; both the beginning of our story as well as the happily ever after. We hope you enjoy."
