While this room has good scale it felt narrow-there would not be many options as to the furniture placement. The sitting area featured 4 arched windows and a door leading to the patio. The tall cathedral ceiling was definitely a point of interest.
We narrowed down the color palate to taupe greys, crème and a hint of lemon grass. The old carpet was replaced with a dark hardwood floor. The ornate mantle was removed and a new modern sleek mantle was installed.
A surround of Carrara marble was selected. The walls were painted a medium gray and a dark gray contrasted with the trim.
We chose 2 identical tone on tone rugs for the sleeping and relaxing areas, Our client wanted a bed with drama -so we selected a fully upholstered bed with slight wings and a unique center detail. A gray velvet was chosen for the headboard and pewter nail heads accent every flair. Extra height was added to the headboard to ensure drama! Simple bedding continue the modern edge-the duvet resembled a snakeskin pattern and just a hint of lemongrass is added with the shams. Two artesian chests flank each side of the massive bed. The mix of metal adds interest to the room. Two extra tall lamps rest on each side of the chests. A bench upholstered in a lemon grass textured fabric has 2 neck rolls uniquely strapped at the ends.
